Frequently asked questions

How can I get more information about Dyslexia Screening?

     Call me on 07596 464 410 or email coletteforsyth@hotmail.com

How is the tuition delivered?

Normally over Zoom. Students need access to a desktop or laptop.

How will my child who is struggling benefit from your tuition?

Improvement is achieved by identifying underlying weaknesses and working on             these using the learner’s strengths.

Is your teaching appropriate for all learners?

Multi-sensory methods, delivered in a structured way, enable all learners to make progress.

Why does my child seem to perform inconsistently, even within the same day?

Lack of consistency indicates poor memory and/or insecure learning. Some students need time,                   practice and an individual approach.

Do you set homework?

This is discussed on an individual basis.

Why might my child be struggling now yet seemed fine earlier?

As students get older, they are expected to be more organised and work independently.

The understanding of more complex texts, the demands of essay writing and tasks needing to       be completed under timed conditions, can all pose new problems.

Can you support my child in completing homework set by school?

This support can be provided instead of, or as part of, a taught lesson. Showing the learner           how to approach and plan a task, can take much of the tension away. Often, having started           well, momentum is lost and the student needs encouragement to complete. With support,             slowly the learner will become more confident to work independently. Organisation, study             skills and memory techniques can be taught and practised.

How do I arrange to discuss this further?

Call or message me on 07596 464 410 or email coletteforsyth@hotmail.com to book an initial         telephone consultation.
